Willa Eleanor Moore, age 92 of Moravia, Iowa, passed away Sunday, November 08, 2015 at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Centerville, Iowa.
Eleanor was born June 16, 1923 in McLeansboro, Illinois, the daughter of Olin Dale and Retta Louise (Woodruff) Gammon. She graduated from McLeansboro High School in 1941. Following high school, Eleanor worked for a brief period of time as a legal secretary at a law firm.
She was united in marriage to Val Moore on February 6, 1943.
Eleanor enjoyed many hobbies throughout her lifetime, especially gardening, tennis, and playing bridge. She was a member of both the Order of the Eastern Star and the United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her three children, Andy (Vicki) Moore of Moravia, Iowa, Martin T. Moore of Mansfield, Texas, and Kenneth J. Moore of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Jeff (Nichole) Moore of Centerville, Iowa, Jason (Marci) Moore of Moravia, Iowa, Derek Moore of Dallas, Texas, and Whitney Moore of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; three great grandchildren, Kelsey Moore, Kaitlyn Moore, and Kale Moore; along with several nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her step-father, L.M. Mills; and two brothers, John and Bill Mills.
Private services will be held at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville. A graveside service will take place at 1 PM, Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in McLeansboro, Illinois with Rev. Gary Whipple officiating. Memorials have been established to the Alzheimer's Association and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
